Objective: You will be assigned to work in a group to do research on a particular aspect of Shakespeare’s life and times. Your group will compile information relevant to your assignment and present its findings to the class in a creative-style presentation.

Procedure: Teacher will assign groups and topics. Here are the topics to be divided up among the groups:

• William Shakespeare: A biographical study
• Elizabethan Theatre: Actors, costumes, theatres, themes
• Elizabethan England: Attitudes and culture
• Renaissance Italy: What’s it like? (explore architecture, society, religion, culture, crime and punishment, cuisine)

Research Phase:
Once assigned to a group, you will receive your topic from those above. Your group must then explore the topic by researching thoroughly using library resources. You may use the library web resources, but NO GOOGLE. Discover as much as you can about your area of study. By the time you are finished researching, you should be experts in your area!

Presentation Phase:
After the research phase, your group will devise a method by which to present your findings to the class. Presentation is important, so be creative. You may choose any format or medium in which to present your research, such as a talk show, a skit, a video, or any other creative method. However, each group must create a Wikispaces page to accompany the presentation. Presentations should last between 10 and 15 minutes.

Group Guidelines:
All members of the group must participate. Some roles may be speaking roles, others may be behind-the-scenes roles. But all students are accountable for assisting in this group effort. Assign roles according to those outlined on Group Goals Worksheet.
